Best Airplane and Best Airport: Only the Best of Qatar
From the moment we boarded our Qatar Airways flight, we felt something special awaited us. We were en route to the Philippines. We spent over nine hours in the air. The experience was far from tiring. It was a showcase of the best of Qatar.
Warm smiles greeted us in economy class, where the cabin crew anticipated our needs with grace and efficiency. Though we envied the spacious business class seats, economy offered comfort, entertainment, and thoughtful amenities. Traveling with kids? Qatar Airways made it easier with activity kits, movies, and cozy essentials like blankets and eye covers. I even caught up on all the Bourne films!
Meal service was another highlight. With three options per meal and generous portions, we were well-fed throughout the flight. Pork wasn’t on the menu. This was likely due to cultural norms. We appreciated the variety, especially the hot green tea and ample snacks.
Despite the long flight, sleep came easily. The cabin temperature was perfect, and the legroom was just right for our heights.
Comfort, culture, and world-class service from takeoff to layover
We arrive at Hamad International Airport (HIA) and feel like stepping into a futuristic gallery. Its architecture, lush indoor gardens, and curated art installations made our layover feel like a mini vacation. We wandered through tax-free shops and sampled global cuisine—including a 4 AM ramen stop that was worth the wait.
I see a Harrod’s Tea Room and indulge myself in the best tea house at the airport. It was a luxurious pause in transit, offering classic British teas and pastries in a refined setting.
HIA also offers quiet spaces for reflection. There are prayer rooms and silent lounges. These provide a peaceful escape from the bustle of travel.
Qatar may be small in size, but its hospitality and innovation shine brightly. From the skies to the terminal, Qatar Airways and HIA truly represent the best of Qatar. We’re already dreaming of our next visit.
